It is an overused phrase, but true nonetheless…It takes a village to raise a child.
As both my parents have transitioned, my dear friend Miss P graciously assumed the role of grandmother to my daughter. This is her “Nana” for life. They are ridiculously in love.

Nana prepares all of Samara’s favorite dishes on request. Now the secret recipes are beginning to be passed down.
This is one of Samara’s favorites….(mine too.)

  • Catfish filets (wild caught when possible)
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • White cornmeal
  • Vegetable oil
  1. Gently rinse fish
  2. Pat dry
  3. Season fish with salt and pepper
  4. On a flat plate, coat both sides of fish in white cornmeal
  5. Pan fry or deep fry until golden brown or fully cooked
  6. Serve with hot sauce

We also love this with Cousin Denise’s homemade BBQ sauce but I don’t even know what’s in it. I’m still begging for that recipe. I do know one of the ingredients is tamarind…I think.
